A little less baggage.

Checked fields will be removed—

Location, identity, camera and capture fields start selected. Display orientation is always retained so your photo stays the right way up.

Profiles preserve color rendering but can contain descriptive text. Leave this off to remove them; colors may then look different.

XMP, IPTC, MakerNotes, comments, embedded thumbnails, unlisted EXIF fields and trailing data are always removed. This tool rebuilds only the supported fields you choose to retain.

Metadata privacy, with clear boundaries.

This cleaner supports standard JPEG files with EXIF, including progressive JPEGs. It does not edit RAW, HEIC, PNG or sidecar files. It preserves compressed image data, display orientation, basic JPEG rendering markers and any color profile you explicitly keep. Selected fields are checked again after the cleaned JPEG is rebuilt.

Removing metadata cannot remove a face, street sign, watermark or other identifying detail visible in the photograph. A retained field can also contain personal information; inspect its value before sharing. The downloaded filename is always cleaned-photo.jpg.

For a broader inspection, use the metadata and shutter-count tool. The file structure follows the CIPA EXIF specification; see also ExifTool’s metadata-removal notes.
