Compatibility

Formats we can describe honestly.

Metadata support depends on the file, browser, camera, and whether editing software preserved the original tags.

Other camera RAW formats under evaluation

NRW, CR2/CR3, ARW, RAF, ORF, RW2, PEF, and RWL are not yet advertised as supported. They require representative original files and real-device testing before format- or model-specific claims are made.

For the measured parser and counter-detection results behind these decisions, see our camera RAW shutter-count compatibility research.

Browser limitations

To practice with an identified accepted original, use the D2H case study. If the result is absent or the reader fails, follow the missing-count troubleshooting guide.

Large RAW files and deeper WebAssembly analysis can require significant memory. Mobile browsers may terminate an analysis even when the file itself is valid. The fast metadata pass remains available when deeper analysis cannot start.

Shutter count limitations

Shutter count is not a universal EXIF field. It may be absent, proprietary, encrypted, removed during editing, limited to mechanical captures, or available only through direct camera communication.
